My Hero’s Prayer

  |   Blog

It started out as a heartfelt note to First Responders…

…then morphed into rhyme and song. Though written years ago (not yet recorded), I wanted to let you all know we’re praying for all of you who are on the front lines battling this current unseen war. Please take time to breathe.

My Hero’s Prayer

I know not how you get your sleep
The things you see disturb the deep
The aches, the cries, the babe who dies
The hollowness it leaves inside

For some you can provide the cure
You reach they cling, your touch assures
Securing life for one more day
And death, for now, is kept at bay

     This is my hero’s prayer
All that you can’t, He’ll bare
He’ll take it from here and you will see
All you need do… is breathe

Beneath the laughter, tears of joy
Once willful soul, it does destroy
Sometimes we seek, but cannot save
Discouragement and heart enslaved

Who once was hailed, the hero’s tale
Is now a target, can’t exhale
Lest the one to save – you thought was frail
Now turns on you with thoughts assail

     This is my hero’s prayer
All that you can’t, He’ll bare
He’ll take it from here and you will see
All you need do… is breathe

When you cannot stand it one more day
When the nightmares never go away
Life your weary eyes, worn soul cry out
Just rest in His arms, no need to doubt

     This is my hero’s prayer
All that you can’t, He’ll bare
He’ll take it from here and you will see
All you need do is breathe
